If I could give Layla 10 stars, I absolutely would. This will be my new go-to spot in Salt Lake City! We stumbled across Layla on New Year's Eve (12/31) after our first choice didn't pan out, and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the lively chatter and music made it feel like stepping into a big family gathering. Despite not having reservations (which I recommend), we were warmly greeted and seated at the bar. Our bartender/server was outstanding--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Fresh rolls were promptly brought out, and the pace of service was spot on: no rush, no long waits. We ordered the baba ganouj, chicken shawarma, musakhan, and specialty fries, and all I could say was, "Wow." Every dish was vibrant and packed with flavor, showcasing the quality and freshness of the ingredients. To finish, we couldn't resist the chocolate mousse cake with an Oreo crust, which was chef's kiss. Even after all that food, I felt satisfied, not overwhelmed--a true testament to how fresh everything was. What stood out even more than the food was the staff. On a busy New Year's Eve, the teamwork was impeccable. Everyone pitched in, ensuring guests had everything they needed. We received frequent check-ins and refills, and overheard regulars praising the family who owns the restaurant. The sense of community and care made Layla feel like "home"--a unique and heartwarming experience I haven't had since moving to SLC. Layla is the most underrated gem I've found in the city. I can't recommend it enough and will be returning frequently!
Elegant and comfortable atmosphere with INCREDIBLE food! This is perfect for an American pallette. We loved the chicken curry and Moroccan chicken. Too much food to eat in one sitting and we were fighting over leftovers the next day. The falafel wrap was light and balanced, which would be perfect for lunch. Also definitely try the rose lemonade. So simple but such a delicious treat. Service was attentive and very helpful when we asked questions.
Layla's is great. I've been going there for years and the food and service never disappoints. The lamb shank is my go to but the ribeye and the Moroccan chicken are next in line.
Lovely summer meal at Layla and our server, Jay, was really attentive and helpful. I wish the large group who shared the dining area hadn't been so loud, because it was much easier to have a conversation with our small group once they were gone. The hummus is fantastic but the veggies were seriously lacking. The photo isn't half gone; that was it. The pita bread and rolls were great and the cauliflower appetizer is always super tasty. One special we tried was the moussaha, but it was made with artichokes instead of eggplant. It wasn't our favorite, but interesting. The soup special was clam chowder which was good, but not many clams. Our favorites of the evening were the chicken curry, which we always order, and the Greek salad with shrimp: perfect for a summer evening.
One of our all time favorite restaurants. Everything from the family that owns it, down to the savory and delicious spices they sprinkle on the rice is magic. Some of our personal favorites: Moroccan chicken, shrimp kebabs and pretty much every wrap we have tried.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and know the menu. Wonderful Egyptian dishes.
I am not a huge Mediterranean food person, but everything I've had at Laylas is awesome. Their cauliflower appetizer is a must! Their fries are very good as well. They have a garlic aioli that is amazing, but wish they didn't charge you for a small side of it as the food is already pretty pricy. The staff is always nice and the ambience is great. I definitely will revisit, but can't go often due to it being a pricier place.
Food is satisfying for Mediterranean but not necessarily the best ever. Good enough! We got to grape leaves, shrimp, and appetizer dips. It's close so we go occasionally. It's very overpriced sadly but feels like that's everywhere. If craving Mediterranean it fills the need.
The food is incredible! And the place is gorgeous!! Two things: parking is hard to find so if you can carpool and two I'd advise making a reservation it's much easier, I think they do walk ins but reservations seems at best
